Happy St. Patrick's Day. I am a wee bit Irish. My mom's Parnell family are descended from Englishlandowners in Ireland. My great-great-grandfather was Thomas Parnell. My mom thought he was a brother of the famous Charles Parnell, the revered Irish patriot and statesman who was born in Ireland and championed home rule. I attended St. Mary's grade school in Little Falls, MN and was taught by the Missionary Sisters of St. Francis from Ireland. We learned the Irish jig and a lot of Irish songs. I can remember being on stage singing "Danny Boy" on St. Patrick's Day. We took the "wearing of the green"
seriously on that day and if anyone came to school wearing orange, they were sent home to change.
