There is Some Joy in Mudville

Remember the poem, "Casey at the Bat"? Mighty Casey has struck out and there is no joy in Mudville. Today there is no joy in Twindom as the Minnesota Twins lost to the Chicago White Sox last night ending the season. We have a young, plucky team who play as a team. A refreshing change from so many diva driven pro sports teams. I don't know if you can call a superstar jock a diva. It might be insulting. I might mean it that way. A lot of them are overpaid, spoiled brats. You get a different vibe from our Twins.

There is joy in our "Mudville". Lots of joy actually in our family as we watch "our Minnesota Twins" progress. I spent several hours in the nursery with Mary and the babies yesterday. I got to help feed both of them. They have both been taken out of isolettes and both can be held and fed. The IVs and oxygen are gone. They are wearing "street clothes" as Mary noted. That was an especially nice thing to see. It helps to make the transition from endangered preemie baby to normal infant. The hospital has a stash of baby clothes and they were so cuddly dressed up. When we went home Mary and I selected the smallest clothes they had at home to bring to the hospital for them to wear. The nursery nurses are very accomodating and helpful .

Thanks for your prayers and support. Mom, dad and the babies are doing well. The other Twins will have to wait for next season but can be proud of their 2008 season.

Our son in law is from Chicago and a White Sox fan. This may be an interesting October in Chi-town if the Cubs and the White Sox continue to win. Imagine that World Series game.
